ASDA Launches Dromona Probiotic Cheddar
Dale Farm, Northern Ireland’s leading dairy company, is driving the market in dairy product innovation by developing the first probiotic cheddar cheese in the UK or Ireland, which will be launched in ASDA’s 13 NI stores this week.
Jason Hempton, Sales Manager Ireland with Dale Farm explains; At Dale Farm we already successfully produce a range of probiotic products including our Spelga Low Fat Bio, and Spelga Fat Free yogurts and Intune yogurt drink. We have taken this product knowledge and continued to channel resource and our expertise into new product development and innovation by developing Dromona Probiotic Cheddar the first probiotic cheddar cheese on the market.
Consumer demand for products, which contain ingredients such as probiotics in addition to a product’s nutritional content are becoming increasingly popular because of the additional health benefits they offer.
Dromona Probiotic Cheddar contains the probiotic bacteria LA5 which maintains a healthy digestive system and helps strengthen the body’s natural defences. As consumers now associate what they eat with their general health and well being we are confident our probiotic cheddar will appeal to health conscious consumers who still want to enjoy the taste and benefits of natural cheddar.
Brian Conway, ASDA NI Buying Manager explains: We have worked closely with Dale Farm since we entered the NI market last October and are delighted to be the first supermarket chain in Northern Ireland to stock their new locally produced cheddar.

Dromona Probiotic Cheddar is made using NI natural ingredients and was developed at the Dale Farm Technical Centre in Pennybridge Ballymena and produced in Dunman Dromona’s cheese facility near Cookstown.
