A fine spread of awards for local dairy producer
Dale Farm picks up top awards for its Dromona butter and cheese
Dromona butter and cheese products made by local dairy business Dale Farm swept the board at the food Oscar’s winning no less than 7 Gold star awards including the top ‘3 star’ accolade in the 2011 Great Taste Awards.
Dromona Pure Butter received the highest standard of three gold stars, and will now represent Northern Ireland as the best regional food product to compete at an awards event in London in September for the overall UK winner. In addition, Dromona Mild Cheddar picked up three separate gold star awards and Dromona Medium and Vintage Cheddars each were awarded a gold star award. Dale Farm, who is also a major player in the GB market, was also awarded a gold star for one of its GB branded products, Loseley Summer Meadow Butter.
Commenting on the awards, David Dobbin Dale Farm’s Chief Executive said:
“Winning so many of these Great Taste Awards is a fantastic accolade and testament to our product’s quality, given that they were awarded by leading food experts including chefs, food writers and restaurant critics.”
“We are particularly proud to have picked up the coveted ‘three star’ award for our Dromona Pure Butter, which as the NI regional winner will now compete for the overall GB best product in September. As the only Northern Ireland produced butter to receive this accolade, we believe our customers will be very encouraged by this independent seal of approval and quality.
“These awards are also a big win for the dairy farmers of Northern Ireland, who own Dale Farm and supply it with the top quality local milk needed to make these products.”
