Milk Cup Fans 'Get Shirty' with Dale Farm
Drink the Milk – Get the T-Shirt!
Already the biggest youth football tournament on the international circuit the 2007 Milk Cup, which takes place from 30th July to 3rd August looks set to be even more exciting as the famous event celebrates its 25th year and welcomes even more new teams on board.
Created in 1982 by the Dairy Council for Northern Ireland to help local families make the connection between milk as a natural and healthy fuel, particularly for active kids and teenagers, the tournament is now one of the world’s most prestigious youth sporting events, eagerly participated in by a growing number of international teams – from Argentina to Portugal, USA to Israel, Mexico to Brazil, as well as many local and GB teams.
Its longevity and ever increasing global appeal is in large part due to the support it receives from the local community, including local companies such as Dale Farm who, as Northern Ireland’s leading dairy business has supported the event since it’s inception. For Dale Farm, the Milk Cup helps drive home the vital role that sporty, active lifestyles along with good nutrition, as provided by milk and other dairy foods, plays in keeping young people fit and healthy.
Reinforcing this message, Dale Farm last year launched the inaugural ‘Milk Cup Elite Player Award’ rewarding the most outstanding player of the tournament. The 2006 winner was Edgar Santander of Paraquay and anticipation is already mounting as to who will clinch the title this year.
Also this year, to celebrate the tournament’s special silver anniversary, Dale Farm milk lovers will be able to save £4 off the official 2007 Milk Cup T-shirt simply by collecting 10 tokens from Dale Farm 2litre semi-skimmed milk packs. In addition, Dale Farm is giving a lucky NI4Kids reader the chance to win some fantastic Milk Cup merchandise (T-Shirt/Cap/Football) and tickets to the final.
“We are delighted to be associated with this terrific event which supports the physical development of young people by both providing an outlet for their sporting talents and also driving home the message that to perform to the best of their abilities, they must provide their bodies with healthy nourishment,” says Dale Farm Marketing Manager, Joyce Patterson.
“Dairy foods offer very valuable nutrients and, in fact, taken in recommended amounts milk, cheese and yogurt represent the world-recognised ‘3 A Day’ nutrition touchstone which has been proven to offer important health benefits to consumers. By playing an active role in the Milk Cup, our aim is to ensure that local families know that, whatever dietary ‘trends’ come and go, dairy foods offer long-standing, proven benefits for everyone.”
And, throughout the event, players and spectators alike will get to enjoy these benefits as Dale Farm plans to host its annual sampling sessions, giving away thousands of free family favourite dairy goodies.
