First Minister Recognises Dale Farm's Involvement in Prince's Trust

Dale Farm has been recognised for its support of the Prince’s Trust Team programme during an event hosted at Stormont by the First Minister, Dr Ian Paisley. The Leadership and Employee Development Celebration held at the Long Gallery, acknowledged companies from both the public and private sectors for their support of this programme.

The Team programme is a 12-week personal development course that helps 16-25 year olds – all unemployed – to develop confidence, motivation and skills through teamwork in the community.

Two employees from Dale Farm, Suzanne Wallace and Sean O’Gara were seconded to East Belfast and Omagh respectively under the Team programme and took on a mentoring type role, working with unemployed 16 – 25 year olds. During the 12-week period, the employees spent 20 days with the young people, taking part in residentials, community projects and helping with personal development.

Speaking at the event, Dale Farm’s Head of Marketing Elly Hunter said, “The Dale Farm employees who took part in this programme found it to be an extremely beneficial and worthwhile experience. Not only did they benefit personally, they also brought enhanced leadership, team working and problem solving skills back into the workplace. As a company, Dale Farm feels very strongly about assisting community projects – and giving something back to the people who support us.”

Siobhan Craig, Northern Ireland Director for the Prince’s Trust said, “The Prince’s Trust provides amazing opportunities for employees to realise their leadership potential and to enhance their personal development while supporting the disadvantaged young people of Northern Ireland.”

Since September 2006, the TEAM programme has helped over 400 of the hardest to reach young people in Northern Ireland get their lives working again by improving their confidence, communication and motivation.
